At just 18 years old, Angela Bettis made her debut starring in director Franco Zeffirelli's 1993 drama, "Sparrow," in which she played a girl training to be a nun who falls in love. She attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy soon after, and returned to the screen on the spiritual television series "Touched by an Angel" in 1998. The following year she starred alongside Angelina Jolie in the Oscar-nominated film "Girl, Interrupted," in which Bettis played an anorexic patient at a mental institution. Bettis is best known for her work in horror films as well as her collaborations with director Lucky McKee. She appeared in the title role in McKee's 2002 film, "May," and followed with appearances in "Masters of Horror" and "Sick Girl." Bettis later played the title character in the 2002 television version of Stephen King's "Carrie"; her pale skin looked great covered in pig's blood. The actress later made her directing debut in 2006 on the low-budget thriller "Roman," which was written by McKee. Bettis started her own production company with her husband, going on to produce numerous short films including "Last Days of America."
