Actress Anne Dorval enjoyed a successful career in her native Canada by seamlessly transitioning between comedic roles, as in the television satire "Le coeur a ses raisons" (TVA, 2005-07), as well as in dramas like "J'ai tué ma mere" ("I Killed My Mother") (2009). She was born on Nov. 8, 1960 in Noranda, Québec, Canada. Dorval made her acting debut on the television series "Chambres en ville" (1989-1996) before appearing in several films like "Ding et Dong le film" (1990) and "Montréal vu par " (1992). She padded her résumé with guest stints on serials like "Rumeurs" (2002) and the sci-fi program "Grande ourse" (2003-04), as well as had a small part in the feature drama "La vie secrete des gens heureux" (2006). But it was her role on the satire "Le coeur a ses raisons" that made Dorval a household name. She played Criquette Rockwell, the artistic yet temperamental fiancée of a reluctant heir of a beauty products company. Having proven her comedic chops, Dorval delivered a memorable performance in director Xavier Dolan's semi-autobiographical drama "J'ai tué ma mere," about the turbulent relationship of a manic depressive teenager who is just discovering his sexual identity and his equally tormented mother (Dorval). She collaborated with Dolan once again in 2010 in "Les amours imaginaires" ("Heartbeats"), the story of three friends involved in an unconsummated love triangle. Dorval also starred on the sitcom "Les Parent" (La Presse Télé, 2008-2011), about the hilarious adventures of a traditional family.
