Renowned music video director, internationally recognized still photographer, and award-winning feature film director - all of these titles describe the remarkable career of Dutch filmmaker extraordinaire, Anton Corbijn. Of course, before he was directing George Clooney as a soon-to-be retired assassin in "The American" (2010), Corbijn was shooting album covers for such iconic bands as U2, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, and several others. Corbijn's decades-long career as a music photographer ultimately led to his career as a respected director of music videos. Some of the more notable videos he helmed in the 1980s and '90s included U2's touching "One" (1991), as well as Nirvana's grunge classic, "Heart-Shaped Box" (1993). By the mid-2000s, however, Corbijn decided to leave his successful career in music behind to direct movies, such as "A Most Wanted Man" (2014), which is based on a novel of the same name by the acclaimed British spy author John le Carre. Anton Corbijn may not have envisioned such a multi-faceted career at the onset, but he clearly proved that he could master numerous disciplines in the entertainment world - and be a success at all of them.
