Born and raised in New York City, actor Ben Schnezter was the son of actors Stephen Schnetzer and Nancy Schneider. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Schnetzer's very first onscreen role came in the independent film "Ben's Plan" in 2007. He then appeared on an episode of "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010). Schnetzer's next television appearance came in 2010 when he starred in the American drama television series "Happy Town"(ABC, 2010), about mysterious crimes committed in a small Minnesota town. Schnetzer was cast in the role of Andrew Halpin, and appeared in eight episodes of the series. Schnetzer next appeared in the screen adaptation of the American-German war story "The Book Thief" (2013). Although the movie was widely panned, Schnetzer's performance as Max, a Jew being hidden by a family of Hitler sympathizers, was praised. In 2014 Schnetzer was cast in the LGBT comedy-drama "Pride." Starring Bill Nighy, Dominic West and Imelda Staunton, the film told the story of a group of gay activists who attempted to raise funds for families adversely affected by a miners strike in Britain in the early '80s. In 2015 it was announced that Schnetzer would appear in the Oliver Stone-helmed feature "Snowden" about NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden. Schnetzer starred in Andrew Neel's film "Goat" (2016), which premiered at Sundance to largely positive reviews.
