British-born Bernard Archard was a beloved actor, well-known for his memorable performances on the Hollywood movie screen. Archard started off his acting career mostly in film roles, appearing in the mystery adaptation "Village of the D*mned" (1961) with George Sanders, the dramatic adaptation "The Password Is Courage" (1962) with Dirk Bogarde and "The List of Adrian Messenger" (1963). He also appeared in "Play Dirty" (1968) and the Yul Brynner crime flick "The File of the Golden Goose" (1969). He also appeared in the TV movie "Run a Crooked Mile" (NBC, 1969-1970). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the seventies and the eighties, appearing in the Ralph Bates horror film "The Horror of Frankenstein" (1970), "Dad's Army" (1971) with Arthur Lowe and the suspenseful mystery "Fragment of Fear" (1971) with David Hemmings. He also appeared in the Jon Finch historical drama "Macbeth" (1971). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "A Tale of Two Cities" (CBS, 1980-81). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Gregory Peck adventure "The Sea Wolves" (1980), the action picture "Krull" (1983) with Ken Marshall and "Hidden Agenda" (1990) with Frances McDormand. Additionally, he appeared on the television special "Separate Tables" (HBO, 1982-83). Archard most recently acted on "Queer as Folk (UK)" (1999-2001).
