Brandon Jacob Uranowitz was born on Jul. 9, 1986 in Livingston, NJ. He was a student of the dramatic arts in youth, enrolling in the Performers Theatre Workshop in Maplewood, NJ. Going forward, he studied theater arts at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. During his tenure at NYU, Uranowitz appeared in Off-Broadway productions of Shakespeare plays like "Richard III" and "Twelfth Night," as well as musicals like "Evita." Following graduation, Uranowitz landed the starring role of Mark Cohen in a national tour of the musical "Rent." Around the same time, Uranowitz also began acting in screen projects; he made his television debut on an episode of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC/USA 2001-2011) and appeared on an episode of the sketch comedy series "Inside Amy Schumer" (Comedy Central 2013-16) not long afterward. He made his film debut in the horror comedy "Stage Fright" (2014) opposite Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf. Uranowitz's stage career began to skyrocket after he starred in "An American in Paris," first in Paris and then on Broadway; he earned a Tony Award nomination for his work in the latter production, as well as a Grammy Award nomination for the original cast recording. Back on the screen, Uranowitz played a recurring role in the second season of the comedy series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" (Amazon 2017- ), and guest starred as Dustin Hoffman on the showbiz drama miniseries "Fosse/Verdon" (FX 2019). He wasn't estranged from Broadway for long, however; for his part in the play "Burn This," Uranowitz earned his second Tony Award nomination.
