Brian Tochi owes his long and successful acting career to his father, or more precisely, his father's well-known Beverly Hills hair salon. Tochi was discovered as a young child by an agent who stopped by for a haircut, and in 1968, the young actor made his TV debut on the short-lived sitcom "He & She" as the adopted son of the title couple. He landed a memorable role as a devious child with telekinetic powers on an episode of "Star Trek" and was cast a few years later as Yul Brynner's eldest son on the lavish prime-time series "Anna and the King"; the drama, based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The King and I," was canceled after just one season. After a brief starring role in the sci-fi series "Space Academy," about a group of students who attend military school in outer space, Tochi played shy Japanese-American nerd Takashi Toshiro in the raunchy college comedy "Revenge of the Nerds." The film's success led to roles in high-profile films like "Police Academy 3: Back in Training," where he portrayed a lovestruck officer-in-training, and the surprise hit "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," where he gave voice to Leonardo, de facto leader of the band of crime-fighting brothers. In 2004, Tochi wrote and directed the television anthology comedy "Tales of a Fly on the Wall," which used the title fly to connect the various segments, and has also lent his voice to numerous animated TV series and movies.
