Canadian actress Brigitte Bako, who lives and works regularly in the United States, was born in a thriving Jewish neighborhood in Montreal. Her parents were Holocaust survivors who encouraged Bako to follow her dreams at the prestigious Grand Ballets du Canada and Canadian National Shakespeare Company. Among her first professional work was a minor part in Martin Scorsese's segment of the 1989 film "New York Stories," which she followed with an episode of the legal drama "Equal Justice" and a role in the Michael Keaton movie "One Good Cop." Bako has appeared in many episodes of "Red Shoe Diaries" with David Duchovny, and received accolades for her role in the tense '93 feature drama "I Love a Man in Uniform." Two years later, Bako appeared with Ralph Fiennes in Kathryn Bigelow's futuristic thriller "Strange Days," and began doing the voice of Angela on the popular animated series "Gargoyles." Bako received more positive notes for the Canadian film "Saint Monica" and was featured in a number of one-off TV roles on "Law & Order," "The Atwood Stories," and the Showtime series "Californication," which found her reunited with Duchovny. In 2005, Bako created the adult comedy TV series "G-Spot" for Canada's The Movie Network. In addition to her starring role as Gigi, Bako was also the writer and executive producer of the series, which ran until '09.
