Canadian actor Bruce Harwood began his career in 1987 as Juice (later playing Willis) on the hit series "MacGyver," setting the tone for the rest of his career -- thereafter, Harwood became known for playing brainy roles. Appearing on "MacGyver" until 1991, Harwood made several appearances on other television shows during that time, including the popular "21 Jump Street." In 1994 he landed his most important role, as John Fitzgerald Byers on the sci-fi phenomenon "The X-Files," starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, playing one of the three Lone Gunmen, Mulder's conspiracy theory allies. Harwood was also cast in the 1998 "X-Files" film before starring in the spin-off series "The Lone Gunmen" in 2001. The series lasted for only 13 episodes, unable to capitalize on the cult popularity of "The X-Files." Beginning in 1995, Harwood began a series of appearances in different roles on the sci-fi series "The Outer Limits," usually cast as a doctor or other respectable type. After the failure of "Lone Gunmen," Harwood made small guest appearances on other popular shows, including "Smallville," "Stargate SG-1," and "The L Word." His other film roles have included Miles in the crime thriller "The Guilty" and a scientist in "The Last Mimzy."
