Claire Carleton was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Carleton's career in acting began with her roles in various films like "Grand Ole Opry" (1940), the Barbara Stanwyck crime picture "Lady of Burlesque" (1943) and "Gildersleeve on Broadway" (1943). She also appeared in "The Missing Lady" (1946), the Warner Baxter mystery "Crime Doctor's Manhunt" (1946) and "Too Many Winners" (1947). She continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in "Shockproof" (1949) with Cornel Wilde, the mystery "The Crime Doctor's Diary" (1949) with Warner Baxter and the comedy "It's a Great Feeling" (1949) with Dennis Morgan. She also appeared in the crime feature "Red Light" (1949) with George Raft. Toward the end of her career, she tackled roles in the Doris Day biopic drama "Love Me or Leave Me" (1955), "The Black Sleep" (1956) with Basil Rathbone and the David Brian crime flick "Accused of Murder" (1956). She also appeared in "The Buster Keaton Story" (1957) and "Reform School Girl" (1957) with Gloria Castillo. Carleton was most recently credited in "A Close Call For Boston Blackie" (1986). Carleton passed away in December 1979 at the age of 66.
