Famous for her strong, charismatic screen presence, actor Clotilde Hesme was drawn to acting due in part to her family's enthusiasm for the craft. Born in the provincial town of Troyes, France, both of Hesme's sisters, Annelise and Élodie, were actresses as well. When the time came for her to consider her own higher education, Hesme enrolled at Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique in Paris. Hesme was immediately taken with the lush artistic landscape of Paris, and became immersed in the city's vibrant theater scene. She appeared in the short film "Dieu, que la nature est bien faite!" in 1999, but the stage remained her primary outlet until filmmaker Jérôme Bonnel took notice of her acting in an independent play, and cast her in his film "Le Chignon d'Olga" (2002). Many more film roles followed, including a turn in the romantic comedy "Regular Lovers" (2005) and the musical "Love Songs" (2007), for which she performed two songs. Hesme was even nominated for a Cesar Award for Most Promising Actress for her performance in 2008's "Les chansons d'amour." She would later take home the award for her role in "Angel & Tony" (2010). In 2015, Hesme joined the cast of the fantastical TV series "The Returned" (Sundance, 2012-).
