Cody Simpson had the teen idol look down - feathered hair, aqua-hazel eyes, and shy smile - but also the pipes to back up the whole package. Before he found mainstream success, the Australian-born singer was a YouTube sensation, racking up millions of hits for his videos that showed him performing pop cover songs while accompanying himself on guitar. Inevitably, the right talent scouts caught an online glimpse and Simpson landed a recording contract, releasing his debut single "iYiYi" (2010), a catchy and laid-back pop gem about missing a girl. Almost overnight, the media had dubbed Simpson "the next Justin Bieber," who was the then-reigning teen pop idol. Simpson's career skyrocketed when he scored another hit with "On My Mind" (2010), another syrupy ode to teen romance. The single reached No. 1 on the Radio Disney chart and also made the Top 40 pop charts, a sure sign that Simpson was well on his way into becoming one of pop music's most promising musical artists.
