Colin Tapley

Colin Tapley was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Tapley kickstarted his acting career in various films such as "Limehouse Blues" (1934), the crime adaptation "Murder at the Vanities" (1934) with Carl Brisson and "The Double Door" (1934). He also appeared in the historical love story "The Pursuit of Happiness" (1934) with Francis Lederer, "Becky Sharp" (1935) and "Lives of a Bengal Lancer" (1935) with Gary Cooper. His film career continued throughout the thirties in productions like "Peter Ibbetson" (1935) with Gary Cooper, "The Black Room" (1935) and the action movie "The Last Outpost" (1935) with Cary Grant. He also appeared in the drama "King of Gamblers" (1937) with Claire Trevor, the Ronald Colman dramatic adventure "If I Were King" (1938) and "Storm Over Bengal" (1938). Nearing the end of his career, he tackled roles in the Ronald Colman drama "The Light That Failed" (1939), the Jean Arthur western "Arizona" (1940) and the Elsie Janis drama "Women in War" (1940). He also appeared in "Samson and Delilah" (1949), the dramatic adaptation "The Dam Busters" (1955) with Richard Todd and the thriller "The Safecracker" (1958) with Ray Milland. Tapley more recently acted in the Suzy Kendall spy picture "Fraulein Doktor" (1969). Tapley passed away in December 1995 at the age of 88.
