Fitness coach and model Craig McGinlay's peak physical condition helped him break into acting appearances as athletic adventurers in films like "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" (2017). Raised in the Scottish town of Paisley, McGinlay began his career in sports, playing for the under-18 team of Scotland's national rugby union. He left the game to work as a strength and conditioning coach for various football and rugby clubs, including St. Mirren's and the Glasgow Warriors, while also maintaining his own business as a fitness coach. In 2013, he was featured as a weightlifter in a television commercial for Irn-Bru, a Scottish soft drink; his model looks and strapping physique attracted the attention of casting agents, which led to modeling jobs and more commercial assignments, including a spot for Haig Club whiskey for director Guy Ritchie, and acting roles in several genre shorts by director Graeme Carr. In 2014, he began work on his first feature film, a period fantasy titled "The Fairy Flag," though the project remained uncompleted for several years. In 2017, he was tapped by Ritchie to co-star with Charlie Hunnam and Jude Law in "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword," for which he played Round Table knight Sir Percival. "Fairy Flag" finally went into post-production that same year under a new title, "The Clan MacLeod."
