Cédric Jimenez entered the world of cinema with a zest for all aspects of the filmmaking process. After cutting his teeth as a director and producer of the hip-hop documentary "Who's the Boss: Boss of Scandalz Strategyz" (2003), he moved on to include writing in his arsenal for his next pictures, "Scorpion" (2007) and "Aux yeux de tous" (2012). Gradually working his way toward notability, Jimenez landed his highest profile project yet shortly afterward: the Toronto International Film Festival premiere "The Connection" (2015). Cédric Jimenez was born on June 26, 1976 in Marseille, France. His earliest contribution as a professional filmmaker was "Who's the Boss: Boss of Scandalz Strategyz" (2003), a musical documentary about artists Joey Starr that Jimenez co-directed with Karole Rocher. Jimenez's first go at a feature script came several years later, taking the form of the Thai boxing- and Ultimate Fighting-themed action-drama "Scorpion" (2007), which Jimenez also produced. He returned to directing with the thriller "Aux yeux de tous" (2012), co-helming with fellow writer Arnaud Duprey. The film's star Mélanie Doutey would reunite with Jimenez again for "The Connection," a particularly ambitious project for the writer and director. A crime-drama starring Best Actor Academy Award winner Jean Dujardin, "The Connection" followed the story of a long-term cat-and-mouse game played by a didactic police chief and an elusive drug kingpin. The film, Jimenez's first sole directorial project, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014.
