Many Americans knew French actor Celine Salette for her prominent role as the lady in waiting in Sofia Coppola's opulent period film "Marie Antoinette" (2006). Born in Bordeaux, France in 1980, Salette took an interest in acting early on, studying theater arts at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne. She studied extensively with Ariane Mnouchkine at the Théâtre du Soleil, and later enrolled at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique de Paris, where she met her longtime partner, director Laurent Laffargue, in 1999. After performing with Petit Théâtre de Pain, Salette began her film career in 2005 with a role in the romantic drama "Regular Lovers" (2005). She soon followed the performance with a part in the crime drama "Murderers" (2006) and her role in "Marie Antoinette" the following year. Salette soon found her talents in high demand, appearing in several projects per year, like "The Great Alibi" (2008), "La grande vie" (2009), and the acclaimed period drama "House of Tolerance" (2012), the latter of which earned her a Cesar Award nomination. In 2014, Salette worked with her longtime hero, director Tony Gatlif, on the film "Geronimo" (2014). In 2012, Salette joined the cast of the series "The Returned" (Sundance, 2012-). After a hiatus from the show during 2013 and 2015, she returned to the series in 2015.
