David Cubitt was born in England, but his parents moved to Vancouver when he was only six months old. There he studied at Studio 58 and developed an interest in acting. He made his debut on the hit series "21 Jump Street" in 1987, which led to parts in feature films like "K2," "Run," and "Alive" in the early 1990s. He continued to act throughout the 1990s with guest appearances in western series "Lonesome Dove: The Series," and the sci fi hit show "The X-Files," before landing a more starring role in the Canadian series "Traders." The series, about the successes and failures, as well as corporate alliances, among a group of high-profile investment bankers, became a massive hit in Canada and led to more exposure for Cubitt leading into the 2000s. He was able to land a starring role on the short-lived crime drama "Turks" in 1999 before earning the part of Robert Lipsyte in Michael Mann's biopic "Ali" in 2001. Cubitt returned to television series like "Robbery Homicide Division" and made-for-TV movies like the disaster flick "10.5" and its sequel "10.5: Apocalypse" in the early-to-mid-2000s. Having built an extensive film and television resume in both the United States and Canada, Cubitt was awarded a substantial recurring role, alongside Patricia Arquette, in the supernatural series "Medium" in 2005; he played Detective Lee Scanlon on the primetime drama.
