Dendrie Taylor has been working in film and television since 1986, but the catalyst for her later success may have been a role for which she wasn't originally given credit. Her one-time uncredited performance as Lieutenant Farrell on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," the long-running sci-fi odyssey, bloomed into a repeat performance on the big screen with "Star Trek: Generations," the 1994 film in which William Shatner's James T. Kirk passed on the torch (and the captain's chair) to Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard. From there, Taylor landed roles in science fiction films as diverse as "Species" (the sex and blood-drenched creature thriller) and "War of the Worlds" (Steven Spielberg's blockbuster adaptation of H.G. Wells's alien invasion classic). She also appeared as a guest star in one popular TV series after another, among them cop shows such as "NYPD Blue," "Without A Trace," and "Criminal Minds." In 2010, Dendrie played Gail "Red Dog" Eklund in the award-winning boxing drama "The Fighter," and began filming perhaps her most significant recurring TV role, on HBO's "Cinema Verite," about the making of the very first reality-show about an American family.
