Sweet-voiced actress Didi Conn, known to a generation of children as station master Stacy Jones on "Shining Time Station," was born Edith Bernstein in Brooklyn. She began her career performing occasional voices on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon "The Jetsons." In the 1970s, she began appearing on such shows as "Happy Days" and "The Rookies." In '76, she was cast in the Danny Thomas sitcom "The Practice," and the following year voiced Raggedy Ann in the big-screen animated adventure "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure." Conn's performance as Laurie Robinson on '77's "You Light Up My Life" was singled out as a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster film. That same year she appeared as Olivia Newton-John's friend Frenchie in the hit musical "Grease," and she reprised the role in 82's "Grease 2." She also appeared on Robert Guillaume's beloved comedy series "Benson" and in the feature-length kids' movie "Thomas and the Magic Railroad." An ecclectic and prolific actress, Conn has also had roles in the high-profile biopic "Frida" and on the popular procedural drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
