Dree Hemingway

Dree Hemingway was born into the spotlight. Daughter of actress/model Mariel Hemingway and great-granddaughter of author Ernest Hemingway, she dropped out of high school to pursue her own modeling career, and trained in classical Shakespearean acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her first screen role was in the Lifetime TV movie, "Between Truth and Fiction" (2006). The movie starred her mother as a psychiatrist trying to protect her daughter (played by Emily Parker) from an obsessed psychopath. In 2009 and 2010, she spent much of her time on the catwalk, modeling clothes for a number of designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel, and Jean Paul Gaultier. She had her first starring role in the film "Starlet" (2012), which premiered at SXSW 2012. Her portrayal of a young woman who befriends a widowed elderly neighbor won accolades for Hemingway and her costar Besedka Johnson. Hemingway gained further exposure in 2014, with no fewer than three projects released, including two feature films and one TV show. The film roles were supporting parts in "Listen Up Philip" (2014), a comedy starring Jason Schwartzman, and "While We're Young" (2014) directed by Noah Baumbach. She also appeared in the streaming TV series "The Cosmopolitans" (Amazon 2014- ), created by Whit Stillman, about a group of American ex-pats in Paris.
