Gareth Neame

Gareth Neame comes from a long line of film and television greats. The great-grandson of actress Ivy Close and early film pioneer Elwin Neame, grandson of versatile filmmaker Ronald Neame, and son of television producer Christopher Neame, Gareth Neame has talent that runs in the veins. Though he didn't need to go far to break into the field, Neame's first producing job came in 1996 on the made-for-TV thriller "Truth or Dare." He spent the next six years producing several more TV movies, with varying degrees of involvement, until 2001 when he took a job as executive producer on the BBC drama "Clocking Off." This marked the first of many BBC productions with which Neame would be involved, including the legal drama "Trust," the award-winning political miniseries "State of Play," and the long-running spy show "MI-5." In 2004, Neame was hired as the managing director of Carnival Films, a British production company bought by NBC Universal in 2008; there he oversaw several well-received projects, including "Hotel Babylon," adapted from the tell-all book, and the aristocratic drama series "Downton Abbey." Judging from his impressive body of work, it's safe to say Neame has carried on the family legacy of film and television excellence.
