Best known as the guitarist and songwriter for the English pop band Spandau Ballet, Gary Kemp has also carved out a small but noteworthy career as an actor. His first major role came in 1990, when he was cast alongside his brother and bandmate, Martin Kemp, in "The Krays." The film, based on true events, recounted the exploits of twin-brother ruthless crime lords Ronald and Reggie Kray in 1960's London. Gary Kemp received critical praise for his savage, violent portrayal of Ronnie Kemp. Kemp followed up "The Krays" with what remains one of his more recognizable film roles, publicist Sy Spector in the 1992 smash "The Bodyguard." The Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner romantic vehicle would gross over $400 million worldwide, making it easily one of Kemp's highest grossing films. Alas, Kemp has not yet been able to duplicate the mainstream success of "The Bodyguard." He would go on to appear in the 1993 crime thriller "Killing Zoe," the 2001 comedy "Dog Eat Dog," and 2010's "The Rapture," as well as other supporting roles. One of his more intriguing projects was 2008's "Karma Magnet," a 20-minute short which his brother Martin directed. The sibling collaboration features Gary as Joel Manners, a celebrity chef with extraordinary luck, or karma, as it were. Believing that the only way to extend his good karma to his family is by killing himself, Joel considers jumping off a building.
