Born and raised in New York City, Geoffrey Arend graduated from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (also known as the 'Fame' school) in 1996. Two years later he joined the voice cast for the animated show "Daria" (MTV, 1998-2002), a spin-off from "Beavis and Butthead" (MTV, 1993-97), on which he played the irritating preppie Charles "Upchuck" Ruttheimer III. His first on-screen role was in a supporting part in "Super Troopers" (2001). Arend appeared in an extremely long string of supporting roles in film and television while still utilizing his voice talents for video games such as "Red Dead Redemption" (2004) and "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" (2004). He also appeared as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's best friend in the romantic comedy "500 Days of Summer" (2009). Arend's first live-action series regular role was on "Trust Me" (TNT, 2009), a comedy-drama starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh that lasted one season. Arend appeared in another series regular role on the medical drama "Body of Proof" (ABC, 2011-2013), which starred Dana Delany as a medical examiner helping authorities solve violent crimes. His third series regular role came on "Madam Secretary" (CBS, 2014-), as head speechwriter for Tea Leoni's Secretary of State. It was announced in 2015 that Arend would lend his voice to the animated feature adaptation of the hit video game "Angry Birds."
