Multiple Emmy winner Heather Tom, one of daytime TV's most respected actresses, surprised the soap opera world by leaving her role of Victoria on "The Young and the Restless" (CBS, 1973- ) in 2003 and relocating 3,000 miles across the country to join the cast of the New York-based soap, "One Life to Live" (ABC, 1968-13), later switching to "The Bold and the Beautiful" (CBS, 1987- ), which proved to be a better fit.
