Ian MacDonald was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. MacDonald began his acting career with roles in such films as "Swamp Woman" (1941), the western "Pursued" (1947) with Teresa Wright and the Humphrey Bogart mystery "Dark Passage" (1947). He also appeared in the Ida Lupino drama "Road House" (1948), the James Cagney crime picture "White Heat" (1949) and "Whirlpool" (1950). He kept working in film throughout the fifties, starring in "The Texas Rangers" (1951) with George Montgomery, the western "New Mexico" (1951) with Lew Ayres and the adventure "The Brigand" (1952) with Anthony Dexter. He also appeared in "High Noon" (1952) with Gary Cooper. Nearing the end of his career, he continued to act in the Rock Hudson western "Taza, Son of Cochise" (1954), "Johnny Guitar" (1954) with Joan Crawford and the Burt Lancaster adaptation "Apache" (1954). He also appeared in the Jean Simmons adaptation "The Egyptian" (1954) and the western "Stagecoach to Fury" (1956) with Forrest Tucker. MacDonald was most recently credited in "The Making of Walking With Dinosaurs" (1999-2000). MacDonald passed away in April 1978 at the age of 64.
