A highly acclaimed Canadian actor, Ian Tracey made inroads in Hollywood after achieving success at home. A native of British Columbia, Tracey began acting at a young age with a role in the 1976 Canadian feature "The Keeper." He followed that with a supporting role in the Tom Berenger film "In Praise of Older Women" and the title role in the adventure show "Huckleberry Finn and His Friends" in 1980. He continued acting on Canadian TV as he entered adulthood, appearing in the venerable adventure show "The Beachcombers" and the family program "Danger Bay." He began to appear in Hollywood productions in the '80s, starting with a bit part in the adventure "The Journey of Natty Gann" and a larger role in the Richard Dreyfuss action comedy "Stakeout" in 1987. He made several appearances in the crime drama "21 Jump Street" and had a long-running role on the hit action show "Sweating Bullets," a Canadian show that was exported internationally. He is most associated with another Canadian export--the crime drama "Da Vinci's Inquest"--where he co-starred as Mick Leary for seven seasons beginning in 1998 and appeared in the follow-up series that began in 2005. His work earned him a Best Actor Gemini nomination in 2000, an award he had won the previous year for his portrayal of a wrongfully accused murderer in the true story "Hard Time: The David Milgaard Story." He has since appeared in the sci-fi show "The 4400" and starred in the crime drama "Intelligence."
