A stage actor since childhood, Jason Carter eschewed a potential career in rubber technology to study his craft and subsequently pursue television roles in his native England. Carter's appearances on the folklore-anthology shows "Jackanory Playhouse" and "Jim Henson's The Storyteller" helped him get a regular gig on the British legal drama "Capstick's Law" (1989). The performer soon thereafter relocated to Los Angeles, where he caught the eye of the celebrated director Francis Ford Coppola while auditioning for the title role in "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Although he narrowly lost the part, Carter replicated his earlier television success on the American airwaves of the mid-'90s, landing a five-episode stint on the teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210" and a regular role as Ranger Marcus Cole on the sci-fi series "Babylon 5." Portraying Cole as an unlikely but honorable space soldier, Carter ingratiated himself with fans of the otherworldly. His ensuing guest appearances on the ghoul-filled dramas "Charmed" and "Angel" challenged the dark-haired, cool-eyed actor to tap further into the genre appeal that Coppola had seen in him years earlier. Carter quickly found a niche in the vampire sub-genre, becoming a fixture of such bloodsucking low-budgeters as "Revamped," "The Dead Matter," and "Demon Under Glass." The veteran of the undead has also appeared in such fangless (but not defanged) terror fare as "Dead End Road" and "The Final Curtain."
