Skilled musician and composer Jerry Herman charmed countless movie-going audiences with his contributions to a long list of films. Herman worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "A Salute to Broadway: The Shows" (PBS, 1987-88), "Baryshnikov on Broadway" (PBS, 1986-87), "Evening at Pops (08/01/87)" (PBS, 1986-87), "Hello, Dolly!" (1969) starring Barbra Streisand, "Mame" (1974) and "The 40th Annual Tony Awards" (CBS, 1985-86). In the eighties and the nineties, Herman devoted his time to various credits, such as "Resurrected" with David Thewlis (1989), "Michael Feinstein & Friends" (PBS, 1991-92), "Bleeding Hearts" (1996) starring Mark Evan Jacobs and "Kiss Me Guido" with Nick Scotti (1997). Herman was nominated for an Outstanding Music and Lyrics Primetime Emmy Award for "Mrs. Santa Claus" in 1997. In the nineties and the early 2000s, Herman lent his talents to projects like "Dick" (1999), "Mystery Men" with Hank Azaria (1999), "Scary Movie 2" (2001), "Connie and Carla" (2004) starring Nia Vardalos and "Jackass: Number Two" (2006). More recently, Herman acted in the Carol Channing documentary "Carol Channing: Larger Than Life" (2012). Jerry Herman died on December 26, 2019 in his adopted home of Miami. He was 88.
