John de Lancie

Actor John De Lancie is best known for his roles on multiple sci-fi series. His father was a well-known oboist with the world-renowned local symphony orchestra. He has made his career mainly in television and has guest-starred on many of the major shows of his time, including the cop drama "Hill Street Blues," the political drama "The West Wing," and the mystery series "Murder, She Wrote." He played in several episodes on the mini-series "The Thorn Birds" in 1983, and he also had a long-running role on the daytime soap opera "Days of Our Lives" as the eccentric inventor Eugene Bradford. But his best known role is as the powerful Q on the sci-fi spinoff "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and he was also on multiple episodes of the hit comedy "Ally McBeal" in the 1990s. De Lancie has made a few feature films like the thriller "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" and the comedic drama "The Fisher King," with Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams, but he has stayed loyal to television with his role on the AMC dark drama "Breaking Bad." De Lancie, like his father has also worked with orchestras, providing narration for many orchastras including the New York Philharmonic. the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
