Debonair screen actor Jonathan Goldsmith is best known for his many villainous roles in film Westerns of the 1960s and '70s. With a signature beard and deep baritone voice befitting a range of characters of aristocratic origin, the actor later gained popularity as the commercial mascot for Dos Equis beer known simply as "The Most Interesting Man in the World." Goldman, a New York City native, embarked on his film career in the late '60s, initially performing under the stage name "Jonathan Lippe." Amassing dozens of credits under that name, Goldman switched back to his birth name after establishing himself as a reliable character actor in the Western genre. Following memorable guest appearances in the '80s on primetime soaps "Knots Landing" and "Dallas," Goldman took a hiatus from acting in the '90s. He returned in 2007 with a series of popular TV ads, playing a Hefner-like playboy who invokes the oft-quoted tagline "Stay thirsty, my friends."
