Joyce Compton was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. In 1925, she signed a film contract with First National Studios. Compton began her acting career appearing in various films, such as the Clara Bow drama "Dangerous Curves" (1929), the drama "The Wild Party" (1929) with Clara Bow and the George O'Brien drama "Salute" (1929). She also appeared in "Lightnin'" (1930), the Janet Gaynor musical "High Society Blues" (1930) and "Wild Company" (1930). She continued to work steadily in film throughout the thirties, appearing in the romantic comedy "Sitting on the Moon" (1936) with Roger Pryor, the Mary Astor drama "Trapped By Television" (1936) and the musical comedy "Pick a Star" (1937) with Patsy Kelly. She also appeared in "Sea Racketeers" (1937). Toward the end of her career, she tackled roles in the Guy Kibbee comedy "Scattergood Meets Broadway" (1941), the dramatic adaptation "Blues in the Night" (1941) with Priscilla Lane and the Edward G Robinson action flick "Manpower" (1941). She also appeared in "Bedtime Story" (1941) and "Silver Spurs" (1943) with Roy Rogers. Compton last worked on "Susan B. Anthony Slept Here" (ABC, 1994-95). Compton passed away in October 1997 at the age of 90.
