Growing up on the often-rough streets of Newark, N.J., Jsu Garcia realized the power of acting when confronted by a mugger: he overdramatized his fear and was subsequently left alone. Garcia, who early in his career was credited as Nick Corri, broke into the professional side of the business with a bit role in the television series "Fame," but it was in Wes Craven's 1984 feature "A Nightmare on Elm Street," playing opposite a young Johnny Depp, that Garcia got his real start. Garcia went on to appear in a wide variety of films and television series, from teen TV favorite "The Facts of Life" to the gritty indie feature "Slaves of New York." He had a recurring role in the 1996 law procedural series "Murder One" while starting his own production of a short film, "My Little Havana." Garcia, billed under his own name for the first time, wrote, produced and directed the short, which was the first production for Scott J-R Productions, a company which he formed with New Age spiritualist John-Roger Hinkins. Garcia continued working in films including the Arnold Schwarzenegger action feature "Collateral Damage" and the Ben Stiller romantic comedy "Along Came Polly"; on television, Garcia had a recurring role on the mystery "Without a Trace." Returning to his continued interest in new age spiritualism, Garcia re-partnered with Hinkins to create the films "Spiritual Warriors" in 2007, "Who Are You" in 2009 and "The Wayshower" in 2011.
