Julie Anne Robinson is a prolific English television director who has also branched out into film. Robinson's roots are in theater, and she directed a number of productions during the late 1990s, before moving to TV in 2000. Starting out helming a few episodes of the British daytime soap "Doctors," she soon contributed to another medical-themed series, "Holby City," but found considerably more acclaim and success with "Blackpool," a lauded comedic drama with musical elements, starring David Morrissey and David Tennant. Following her first TV movie, the well-received drama "Coming Down the Mountain," scripted by author Mark Haddon, Robinson tried her hand at American television, directing episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and its spinoff medical show, "Private Practice." Soon thereafter, she worked on installments of the cable dramas "Weeds" and "Big Love," continuing to be quite busy with TV productions until her chance at helming a feature film came along. Her first foray into Hollywood moviemaking proved to be "The Last Song," a romantic drama starring teen star Miley Cyrus, which was commercially successful, but critically panned. Although Robinson returned to television briefly, she continued to focus on her film career, directing "One for the Money," an adaptation of the Janet Evanovich crime novel starring Katherine Heigl.
