Actress Julie Cobb has worked in television since the 1960s, with an occasional movie here and there. She is the daughter of legendary stage and screen actor Lee J. Cobb, who originated the role of Willy Loman on Broadway in the 1949 Elia Kazan staging of "Death of a Salesman," and later teamed up with Kazan again for the 1954 film "On the Waterfront." Julie Cobb's acting career may not be as illustrious as her father's, but she has carved out a niche for herself as a successful working actress. She is probably best known for her role as Jill Pembroke on the first season of the CBS sitcom "Charles in Charge," starring Scott Baio. The show's premise focused on the comedy exploits of a college-aged babysitter, played by Baio, and his dealings with the Pembroke family. The show was canceled after one season, but was then shown in first-run syndication. Cobb's role, however, as well as that of the other actors playing the Pembroke clan, did not make the transition. She is also known for her small part as Yeoman Leslie Thompson in an episode of the cult television show "Star Trek." Among Cobb's many bit parts, she was seen on the legal show "The D.A.," "Gunsmoke" (co-starring with her father), "Growing Pains," and the 1979 miniseries "Salem's Lot," based on the Stephen King novel.
