Born to an archaeologist father and a book-editor mother, award-winning German actress Karoline Eichhorn discovered a passion for acting at a young age. After graduating from the prestigious Folkwang Drama School and further developing her dramatic skills on the Schauspielhaus Bochum stage, Eichhorn made her television debut in the 1994 German TV movie "Drei Tage im April," and the following year gave a breakout performance in "Der Sandmann" that earned her a Silver Lion award for Outstanding Achievement of a Young Talent. "In the Wrong Hands," her first cinematic feature, garnered Eichhorn further acclaim and in 1999, she portrayed Rebekka Rohm in "After the Truth," Roland Suso Richter's daring character study of infamous Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele. After acting on camera for nearly a decade, the actress found a part that would bring worldwide attention to her dramatic talents when she starred as Katrin in Domink Graf's 2002 thriller "A Map of the Heart," a performance that won numerous awards. From there, Eichhorn lent her skills to German TV series such as "4 gegen Z" and "Der kleine Mann," and in 2007 won raves for her work in "Vacation." Excelling in playing emotionally troubled women, Eichhorn again showcased her skills in 2010 with a key role in the chilling crime drama "The Silence."
