Lamorne Morris became a familiar face on a raft of TV commercials, as well as on cable channel BET's special event programming in the early 2000s, before landing a breakout role in the situation comedy "New Girl" (2011- ). A Chicago native, Morris cut his teeth as a performer with the city's famed comedy bastion, Second City. His amiable, engaging countenance as a comic and presenter found a footing at BET, where he hosted a sundry of music and tech shows, as well as becoming a regular face of the network's awards shows. In 2007, he took a key role in the straight-to-video horror film "April Fool." In 2009, he popped up as the host of Cartoon Network's short-lived game show "Brain Rush." Morris landed a more regular gig as one of a trio of wisecracking young roommates who welcome daffy new dweller Zooey Deschanel into the fold on the sitcom "New Girl," which became the overnight hit of Fox's Tuesday night lineup. As with most of his castmates, Morris went from familiar-but-unknown to various Hollywood watch-lists overnight, thanks to his stellar ensemble work and overall comedic skills.
