Levan Gabriadze was born in 1969 in Tblisi, then part of Soviet Georgia. His father, Revaz Gabriadze, was an established film and theater writer and director. Levan found early experience observing and even collaborating on some of his father's productions, including "Pasport" ("Passport") (1990), a comic adventure that Levan acted in and his father wrote. All of the younger Gabriadze's early films were produced by famous Russian producer/director/writer Timur Bekmambetov. The first, "Lucky Trouble" ("Vykrutasy") (2011), was a romantic comedy with some soccer elements in it in order to take advantage of the frenzy leading up to the 2012 World Cup that took place in Japan. The film starred Milla Jovovich and Russian star (and frequent Bekmambetov collaborator) Konstantin Khabenskiy. Gabriadze's next two films were segments from the popular Russian omnibus feature films "Yolki 2" (2011) and "Yolki 3" (2013). The series got its start with "Yolki" ("Six Degrees of Celebration") (2010), produced by Bekmambetov (who also directed a segment). The films all follow interweaving stories that take place on New Years Eve. "Unfriended" (2014), initially called "Cybernatural," is a horror film which takes place entirely on the screen of a desktop computer. Gabriadze intended the film to be a comment on our hyper-connected world, but also as a sort of 'real world' horror film for teens who more often escape and connect on the internet instead of heading to the traditional cabin in the woods.
