A "late bloomer" by Hollywood standards, Lorna Raver received her first onscreen acting credit playing a secretary in the 1990 unwanted-houseguest comedy feature "Opportunity Knocks," starring comedian Rob Schneider. Over the next few years she began to make increasingly frequent appearances, mostly in TV series of the era. Among her roles were guest turns in such popular shows as medical drama "ER" (1996), in which she played a doctor, and the youth-flavored "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1997). Her film roles were less regular, although she would pop up from time to time in interesting productions. These include the violent 1996 adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood set on the American road, "Freeway" (1996). But it wasn't until 2009 that Raver would get her breakout part, a juicy one as a mysterious old woman who puts a curse on the main character, sending him to--yes--hell in "Drag Me to Hell," a vivid horror feature directed by Sam Raimi. In spite of this success on the big screen, Raver generally concentrated on TV, a medium that featured her in many appearances. Among these were a regular role in the daytime soap "The Young and the Restless" (2006) and a one-off on the crime procedural "Bones" (2009).
