A teen actress who has already appeared in several large Hollywood productions during her brief show business career, Madeline Carroll made her first screen appearance when she was just seven with a guest role on the CBS crime series "Cold Case." Carroll worked exclusively in television over the next few years, later making her film debut in the 2006 horror thriller "When a Stranger Calls." While the young actress would continue to take TV parts throughout the 2000s, her film roles would become more frequent by the year. In addition to "When a Stranger Calls," she also supported funnymen Tim Allen and Martin Short in holiday hit "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" in 2006. After another foray into horror (2007's "Resident Evil: Extinction"), Carroll landed her largest role yet, portraying the daughter of Kevin Costner's blue collar character in the 2008 comedy drama "Swing Vote." A series of substantial film parts then came Carroll's way, and in 2010, she had a considerable amount of screen time in the goofy Jackie Chan action comedy "The Spy Next Door." The same year, filmmaker Rob Reiner chose her to play one of the leads in his coming of age effort "Flipped," a romance set in the early '60s. Showing off her dexterity, Carroll next worked with Jim Carrey in the blockbuster family film "Mr. Popper's Penguins" and Gerard Butler in the violent action adventure "Machine Gun Preacher."
