With an extensive résumé that spans decades in both the television and film industries, Manfred Zapatka is a seasoned German actor. A native of Bremen, Zapatka appeared in a couple of supporting screen roles during the 1960s, most notably in the fantastical TV movie "Trilltrall und seine Brüder" and eventually graduated to bigger parts, playing a lead character in the 1970 drama "Das Verhör von Habana - Ein Selbstbildnis der Konterrevolution," another television production. Occasionally appearing in feature films, including the quirky romance "The Hitch of It," he found plenty of work on TV, playing a recurring role on the short-lived 1975 crime series "Eurogang," while also regularly turning up in television movies and miniseries, including the military drama "The Officer Factory." The 1990s proved to be very busy for Zapatka, with the actor featured in the political film "Erfolg" with Bruno Ganz and "König Lear," a German production of Shakespeare's "King Lear," before appearing in the lauded dramatic miniseries "Der große Bellheim." Following guest spots on various popular crime shows, including "SOKO 5113" and "Der Alte," Zapatka went on to have a five-episode run on another cop series "SOKO Leipzig" and a starring stint on the acclaimed procedural drama "KDD - Kriminaldauerdienst," which led to numerous awards for the veteran performer.
