Born in Los Angeles in 2000, Marcus Scribner worked hard to become a well-rounded young man. In addition to playing for years on a lacrosse team, he picked up the clarinet in elementary school and continued to hone his talent. Scribner's first appearance on a TV series came in a supporting guest role on "Castle" (ABC, 2009-) in 2010. He played supporting guest roles in "New Girl" (Fox, 2001-), "Wedding Band" (TBS, 2012-2013), and "Wendell and Vinnie" (Nickelodeon, 2013) before landing his first series regular role on "Black-ish" (ABC, 2014-). The sitcom, created by veteran writer Kenya Barris, focused on a multi-generational African-American family and highlighted changing attitudes towards race. On the show, Scribner plays Andre Jr, the oldest boy in the family and a nerdy, good-natured teen. With Anthony Anderson playing his father, and Laurence Fishburne playing his grandfather, Scribner was in the enviable position of being able to learn his craft from two extremely accomplished performers with a unique perspective and approach to acting. Scribner was nominated for the 2015 NAACP award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, which was won by his co-star Fishburne. The series was received positively and was renewed for a second season.
