Veteran film producer and studio executive Mark Ordesky is best known for executive producing the Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy He attended the USC School for Communication, where he earned a degree in print journalism. Ordesky had the most successful run of his career while serving as an executive at New Line Cinema, where he worked for over 15 years. He began his career as a script reader and worked his way up, eventually introducing Jackie Chan to English language audiences with "Rumble in the Bronx" and later "Mr. Nice Guy," for which he served as production executive. In 1997 he acquired the acclaimed film "Shine," which was New Line's first Best Picture nomination. He developed a relationship with filmmaker John Waters, serving as executive producer on his 1998 film "Pecker." In 2001 Ordesky began work on the most successful run of his career, producing Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." He executive produced all three films in the series, including the Best Picture winner "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" in 2003. Ordesky spent five years as president of a specialty division of New Line, acquiring such acclaimed films as David Mamet's "State & Main," as well as Oscar nominees "Before Night Falls," "Tumbleweeds," "The Sweet Hereafter" and "American Splendor." In 2009, Ordesky launched his own company, Amber Entertainment and has executive produced the films "The New World" and "The Golden Compass."
