Matthew McNair Carnahan

Born in 1961 and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Matthew Carnahan traveled to New York early on, where he studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse. He had enjoyed ten years of increasing success as a playwright when, in 1991, he won a screenwriters fellowship sponsored by Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment and relocated to Los Angeles. After authoring several pilots, Carnahan's first project to see production was the occult thriller "Black Circle Boys" (1997), which he wrote, produced, and directed. Carnahan quickly moved on to create the acclaimed but short-lived series "Trinity" (NBC, 1998-99), before switching gears to write and direct several episodes of the reboot of "The Fugitive" (CBS, 2000-01). After writing and directing the documentary "Rudyland" (2001), Carnahan wrote, produced, and directed several episodes for the Fox series "Fastlane" (Fox, 2002-03) in 2002. He then took a break from the screen to complete his novel, a neo-noir titled Serpent Girl published in 2005. Soon however, Carnahan was back to television, creating and running the series "Dirt" (FX, 2007-08) in 2007, followed by the cult series "House of Lies" (Showtime, 2012-16).
