Michael McIntyre

Charismatic British comedian Michael McIntyre has made quite a name for himself as a stand-up comic, television host, and talk show entertainer, which should come as no surprise considering his show business lineage--his father was a TV comedy writer, and his mother was a professional dancer. McIntyre spent his early years in the London borough of Merton, but upon his parents' divorce at age seven, he moved with his newly-married mother to Los Angeles. His education later brought him to Scotland, where he studied at the University of Edinburgh, dropping out after only one year to start a screenwriting career. His true passion (and biggest successes), came in the form of stand-up comedy. After spending the early 2000s building his comedic resume, he earned his big break In 2006 with a coveted spot at the "Royal Variety Performance." Later in the decade, McIntyre's star continued to rise, evidenced by a slew of awards including "Best Live Stand Up" at the 2009 British Comedy Awards. He popped up on a variety of well-received comedic talk shows, including "Alan Carr: Chatty Man" in 2009, but that same year brought an even better gig: hosting his own stand-up show, the short-lived "Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow." Recognizing his abilities as a charming television personality, ITV brought the comedian on in 2011 as a fifth-season host for their smash reality show "Britain's Got Talent."
