As the son of a carpenter, American actor Michael Rodrick often built the sets he acted on while attending college. After picking up acting in high school, he was accepted into the prestigious New Jersey Governor's School of the Arts and received a scholarship to The Catholic University of America's drama program. Rodrick is known for his dark, emotional characters, either bent on redemption or evil. He made his film debut in the lead role of Nick in the 1995 drama "Desolation Angels." Nick seeks revenge on a friend who apparently raped his girlfriend. The role was intense and his performance praised, and the film won the International Critic's Prize and the Merchant/Ivory Kodak Award at the Toronto Film Festival. He would work with director Tim McCann again in 2005's "Nowhere Man." His next lead role was as Ryan, a recovering heroin addict trying to rebuild his life in "Under Hellgate Bridge." The film was given the Audience Choice Award at the 2000 Atlantic City Film Festival. His work in television began with his performances as Cameron Sinclair on the long-running drama "Another World" in 1998. His television work continued with appearances on popular American television series such as "Bones," "CSI: Miami," and in a four-episode arc as Stokes on the 2009 season of "24."
