Milena Govich

From the very beginning, actor Milena Govich had plenty of encouragement when it came to nurturing her artistic side. Born in Norman, Oklahoma in 1976, Govich's parents were both performers and voice teachers. Govich joined her brothers in taking ballet classes from the age of three, and learned a great deal about both the art and business of performance through her parents' examples. Her father would offer her singing lessons, but only if she made a formal appointment like his other students did. These experiences helped Govich to learn discipline and respect, traits that would serve her well when she attended the University of Central Oklahoma, double majoring in pre-med and performance. She graduated as valedictorian. After moving to New York, Govich cultivated a successful career on Broadway. She appeared in the critically-lauded revival of "Cabaret" and in "The Boys from Syracuse." After traveling to China to appear as a guest performer with pop star Fei Xiang, Govich moved into the realm of on-screen acting with a starring role on the crime drama "Conviction" (NBC, 2006). The show lasted only a season, but soon, Govich was moving on, playing the first female detective in the history of the long-running procedural show "Law & Order" (NBC, 1993-2010). Her next big break came in 2014, with a starring role on the suspenseful series "Finding Carter" (MTV, 2014-).
