Molly Peters was an English model and actress who was best known for playing the role of "Bond girl" Patricia Fearing in 1965's "Thunderball." Born in the English county of Suffolk, Peters' natural beauty was evident at a very young age. By the time she hit her late teens, Peters was able to make a living working as a model. She began appearing on the covers of various British men's magazines, including Cavalcade and Modern Man, and before long caught the attention of the British film director Terrence Young. Young, who had already directed two James Bond films, "Dr. No" (1962) and "From Russia With Love" (1963), was looking for a new Bond girl to star in his latest film "Thunderball." Upon seeing meeting Peters in person, Young knew he had found his actress. He subsequently cast Peters as nurse Patricia Fearing. Upon appearing in the film, Peters would go on to make history by becoming the first ever Bond girl to take her clothes off on screen. Appearing in "Thunderball" was a high-point for Peters' fledgling acting career (she was only 23 when the film was released), but sadly, her career would never achieve such heights. She appeared in only a handful of roles after it, including the Jerry Lewis comedy "Don't Raise the Bridge, Lower the River" (1968), and by the late 1960s her acting career was completely finished. Peters later blamed the abrupt end of her career on a disagreement with her agent. Peters remained largely out of show business in the ensuing decades, preferring to live a quiet life with her husband in the English town of Ipswich. Molly Peters passed away on May 30, 2017. She was 75.
