Nestor Serrano did not break into feature films until 1986, when he landed a role as a troublesome house painter in the Tom Hanks fixer-upper comedy "The Money Pit," yet he has already proved to be a prolific character actor appearing in more than 80 film and television productions so far. Serrano discovered his love of acting by chance. While taking classes at Queens College, he saw a winding line of students waiting to audition for the college's latest drama department production. Serrano tried out and landed a part. His experience on stage proved life altering, and when the show closed its curtains, he left college to study at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. Serrano took his skills to off-Broadway, where he appeared in more than 30 productions prior to stepping before the footlights of Broadway with the likes of Robert De Niro and Patrick Stewart. After breaking into film with a comedic turn in "The Money Pit," Serrano quickly developed a steady television career. He has appeared in hit films and TV shows such as "Bad Boys," "Alias," and "Ugly Betty."
