Beefy Bronx-born character actor Nick Sandow's knack for playing tough guys on either side of the law has made him a familiar TV and film presence. Beginning in the early 1990s, Sandow began working regularly in indie films and on television series. For three seasons, Sandow played the recurring role of firefighter Joe Lombardo on the New York-based crime procedural "Third Watch." Sandow made his directorial debut with a small 2011 indie film called "Ponies," based on an Off-Broadway play about the denizens of an off-track betting parlor, and he guest-starred on the period crime drama "Boardwalk Empire" during the same year.
