Pedro Damián has been involved in the growth of the Mexican telenovela industry for the last four decades, both as an actor, a director, and a producer. Born in Ixtlan del Rio in the Mexican state of Nayarit, Damián, studied child communication at the Instituto Tecnológico de la Educación, and later in the United Kingdom at the Anne Scheer Children's Theatre. He began his acting career in 1971, appearing in "El Amor Tiene Cara de Mujer." Throughout the 1980s and '90s, Damián synthesized his acting skill with his directorial pursuits, taking roles on "Bianca Vidal" and "Monte Calvario," and directing "Luz Clarita," "Amor Gitano," and the TV documentary "Adicción R." He also was musical director for the Mexican pop group Timbiriche, launching the career of seven-time Latin Billboard Award winner Paulina Rubio. The group would go on to have 27 members over the course of its 17-year run. By 2000, Damián had solidified himself as a powerful figure in Latino media, and even took on small roles in the 2002 Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Collateral Damage" and buddy-cop comedy "Showtime." Damián has since produced the hit series "Verano de Amor," and penned the collection of poems "El día en que se invento la muerte." He is the father of Mexican actress Alexa Damián, and the brother of fellow actor/director Juan Carlos Muñoz.
